Becoming a mom can feel beautiful, emotional, overwhelming, and lonely — sometimes all at once.
When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was so excited about the idea of mommy and me classes. I pictured slow mornings with my baby, meeting other moms, sipping coffee while our little ones played nearby, and finally finding community with women in the same stage of life.
But motherhood didn’t exactly go the way I imagined.
My firstborn was a terrible sleeper, and honestly, I was exhausted all the time. Between sleepless nights, postpartum recovery, and simply trying to survive those early newborn months, mommy and me classes never really happened for us.
Then life surprised us again with twins.
At that point, the idea of managing two babies at once outside the house felt impossible. Packing diaper bags, juggling feeding schedules, coordinating naps — it all became a full production just to leave the house. And by the time we finally settled into a routine, I had returned to work both times, so regular daytime classes just weren’t realistic anymore.
Even though I personally never got to experience mommy and me classes the way I imagined, I still think they can be such an amazing resource for new moms here in Atlanta.
Motherhood can feel incredibly isolating, especially during the newborn stage.
Your entire world changes overnight, and suddenly you have questions constantly running through your mind:
That’s why mommy and me classes in Atlanta can be so valuable. They give moms a chance to:
Especially for:
Sometimes just hearing another mom say, “Mine does that too,” can make you feel so much less alone.
One of the best things about Atlanta is there are so many wonderful activities and communities for moms and babies.
Popular mommy and me classes in Atlanta include:
Many of these classes are designed not just for babies, but for moms to connect with one another too.
If you’re an expectant mom, it can also be a great way to start building your village before baby arrives.
One thing I’ve learned as both a mom and an Atlanta newborn photographer is that no two motherhood journeys look the same.
Some moms love getting out of the house right away. Others need more time to adjust. Some thrive in group settings, while others are simply trying to make it through the newborn phase one day at a time.
And all of that is okay.
There is no “right” way to do motherhood.
What matters most is finding support, connection, and confidence in whatever season you’re in.
As an Atlanta maternity photographer and newborn photographer, one of my favorite things is documenting these fleeting moments for growing families.
From the anticipation of pregnancy to those sleepy newborn snuggles, these early seasons pass so quickly — even when the days feel long.
Whether you’re expecting your first baby or growing your family again, I love creating timeless, natural images that celebrate your motherhood journey.
