There is something incredibly special about photographing first-time parents with their newborn. I love documenting these early days through relaxed, in-home newborn sessions. Some of my favorite moments happen during these early days at home, when parents are still getting to know their baby and settling into a new rhythm as a family. For this beautiful in-home newborn session, we began in the family’s spacious living room. One of the things I love most about in-home newborn photography is incorporating the environment where a family’s story is unfolding. Years from now, these parents won’t just remember how tiny their baby was. They’ll remember the home where they brought their newborn for the very first time, the couch where they spent countless hours snuggling, and the space where they became a family.
Many families eventually move, which makes these photographs even more meaningful. These images preserve not only memories of their baby, but memories of the home where this chapter of their lives began.
After spending time in the living room, we moved into the primary bedroom for a more relaxed portion of the session. The bedroom is often one of my favorite locations during an Atlanta lifestyle newborn photography session because it naturally encourages connection. Parents can curl up with their baby, soak in those tiny details, and simply enjoy being together. The result is a collection of images that feels intimate, genuine, and deeply personal.
Lifestyle and Posed Newborn Photography in One Session
We finished the session with posed newborn portraits, creating timeless images that highlight all of the beautiful details families never want to forget—the tiny fingers, delicate eyelashes, sleepy expressions, and sweet little stretches that change so quickly during the first few weeks of life.
