If you’re reading this while rocking a baby back to sleep in the middle of the night, reheating your coffee for the third time today, or wondering whether working with an Atlanta baby sleep consultant could actually help… I see you.
Every new parent expects sleepless nights. Few are prepared for just how exhausting they can be.
Whether your baby wakes every hour, refuses naps, or simply won’t settle without being held, you’re not alone. Many Atlanta families eventually wonder whether working with a baby sleep consultant could make life a little easier.
As an Atlanta newborn photographer—and a mom of three—I spend a lot of time with growing families during those early newborn days. I get to witness the quiet moments, the tiny stretches, the sleepy yawns, and all the beauty that comes with welcoming a new baby.
But I also know how exhausting those days can feel behind the scenes, because I’ve lived them. My first baby was a terrible sleeper. And I mean truly terrible. He woke every 15–30 minutes for what felt like forever—until around 18 months. He never took a pacifier, so I became his comfort. Nursing became his way to settle, reconnect, and fall back asleep. We were up constantly.
Eventually, we started co-sleeping because we simply couldn’t keep getting up and putting him back down all night long. We were exhausted. He’s now seven years old, neurodivergent, deeply sensory-seeking, and still needs that closeness. Even now, almost like clockwork, he finds his way into our bed every night around 11:30.
Then came his twin brothers. They’ve definitely been better sleepers… but we still haven’t exactly figured out the “sleep through the night” thing over here.
At some point during the night, everyone ends up in someone else’s bed.
It’s basically musical chairs… but in the dark.
One parent ends up in our king bed with two kids. The other ends up in our oldest’s room with one of the twins—or sometimes with our oldest. Everyone rotates. No one stays where they started.
If your nights feel anything like that, you’re not alone.
We never sleep trained.
We never hired a sleep consultant.
If you’ve spent any time researching baby sleep, you’ve probably come across books like Moms on Call or Babywise. Some families thrive with structured schedules from day one, while others prefer a more flexible approach.
Our family naturally gravitated toward flexibility because, honestly, we’re just not the most structured people.
More than anything…
We’re snugglers.
Growing up, if I woke during the night, my parents always welcomed me into their bed. Some of my favorite childhood memories are falling back asleep beside them, knowing I was safe and loved.
Now I get to watch my own boys create those same memories.
Almost every night, all three of them eventually find their way into our bed.
Is it always the most restful night’s sleep?
Not even close.
But these quiet moments—sleepy cuddles, tiny feet under the blankets, little arms reaching for us in the middle of the night—are some of my favorite parts of parenthood.
I know there will come a day when they won’t want bedtime snuggles anymore. They won’t climb into our bed or reach for us in the middle of the night.
Childhood moves so quickly, and these moments won’t last forever.
At the same time, I also understand why so many parents choose a different path.
Some families need more sleep because they’re preparing to return to work. Others are recovering postpartum, caring for multiple children, or simply running on empty after months of interrupted sleep.
Those are all completely valid reasons to ask for help.
That’s why I don’t believe there’s one “right” way to approach baby sleep. Every family has different needs, different values, and different goals.
If working with an Atlanta baby sleep consultant helps your family get the rest you need while staying true to your parenting style, that’s a wonderful option. The goal isn’t to follow someone else’s philosophy—it’s to find an approach that works for your family.
Recently, I attended the Babies & Bumps event in Atlanta, where My Dreamy Sleeper was set up right next to my booth.
As we chatted throughout the day, I realized how many parents don’t even know this type of support exists until they’re deep in the newborn stage and searching for answers at two in the morning.
Meeting Atlanta baby sleep consultant reminded me that families don’t have to navigate sleep challenges alone. Whether you live in Decatur, Brookhaven, Buckhead, Roswell, Alpharetta, or elsewhere in metro Atlanta, having local support can make those long nights feel a little less overwhelming.

A baby sleep consultant helps families navigate sleep challenges with babies and young children.
Support often includes:
Some families reach out because their baby won’t sleep unless being held. Others need help transitioning out of co-sleeping. Some simply want reassurance that what they’re experiencing is normal.
A good sleep consultant meets your family where you are and creates a plan based on your baby’s age, temperament, and your parenting goals. Many Atlanta baby sleep consultants work with families both in person and virtually, making it easy to get personalized support no matter where you live in the Atlanta metro area.
Not necessarily.
This is one of the biggest misconceptions.
Some sleep consultants use more traditional sleep training methods. Others take a gentle, responsive, or attachment-based approach.
Many consultants focus on:
There isn’t one right way to approach baby sleep.
There’s simply the approach that works best for your family.

You may benefit from working with a sleep consultant if:
Sometimes parents don’t need someone to “fix” their baby’s sleep—they simply want support, encouragement, and a plan that feels manageable.
The cost of working with an Atlanta baby sleep consultant varies depending on the consultant’s experience, the level of support provided, and whether consultations are virtual or in-home.
Many consultants offer:
Every child is different, so there’s no universal timeline. Some families notice improvements within a few days, while others need a little more time.
Your baby’s age, temperament, developmental stage, and your family’s routine all influence the process.
And sometimes sleep isn’t something to “fix.” Sometimes it’s simply a season of parenthood to move through with support, flexibility, and the reassurance that you’re doing the best you can.
Maybe your baby wakes every hour. Maybe your toddler still crawls into your bed most nights. Naps are unpredictable, bedtime feels chaotic, and you’re wondering if you’re doing something wrong.
You’re not.
Baby sleep can feel incredibly isolating because it often seems like everyone else has it all figured out. But behind closed doors, many families are navigating the very same challenges.
Some thrive with structured routines. Others embrace co-sleeping. Many fall somewhere in between. There isn’t one right way to do this—just the approach that helps your family get the rest and support you need.

Whether your nights are filled with uninterrupted sleep or a game of musical beds, this season won’t last forever.
As an Atlanta newborn photographer, I believe the most meaningful images aren’t about perfection—they’re about connection. I’d love to help you document these early days just as they are, so years from now you can remember not only what your baby looked like, but what this season felt like.
