Choosing the best pediatrician in Atlanta is one of those things you suddenly realize you need to figure out before your baby arrives.
There is a nursery to finish, a hospital bag to pack, a car seat to install—and somehow you’re also supposed to decide who will take care of your baby once you leave the hospital.
If you’re looking for a pediatrician in Atlanta for your newborn, I recommend starting your search during pregnancy. Many Atlanta-area practices offer prenatal visits or consultations, which give you a chance to meet the pediatrician, ask questions and get a feel for the practice before your baby arrives.
Atlanta has so many pediatric practices that it can be overwhelming to know where to start. So instead of creating a giant list of every pediatrician in the metro area, I’ve broken this guide down by Atlanta neighborhoods and suburbs.
I’ve also included a few practices that Atlanta parents regularly recommend, including one that is especially personal to me. My family has been going there for more than seven years, and after three kids, I have a pretty good idea of what matters to me in a pediatrician.
This guide was researched and updated in August 2026. Pediatricians, office hours, insurance participation and appointment policies can change, so confirm current information directly with each practice.
Before You Choose a Pediatrician
You don’t necessarily need to find the “best” pediatrician in Atlanta.
You need to find the right pediatrician for your family.
For some parents, that’s a doctor five minutes from home. For others, it’s a particular physician they really connect with. Some families want a large practice with multiple doctors and extended hours. Others want a smaller practice where they see the same pediatrician most of the time.
Before choosing, I’d ask:
- Are you accepting new babies?
- Do you offer prenatal visits?
- When will you want to see my baby after hospital discharge?
- Do you offer same-day sick appointments?
- What happens after hours?
- Is there a nurse advice line or on-call pediatrician?
- Do you have Saturday or weekend appointments?
- Can I schedule appointments online or through an app?
- Do you offer lactation or feeding support?
- Which hospitals are your pediatricians affiliated with?
- Do you accept my insurance?
And most importantly:
Do I feel comfortable calling this office when I have a question about my baby?
Because once you have a newborn, you will have questions.

Pediatricians in Intown Atlanta
If you live in neighborhoods like Grant Park, Glenwood Park, Cabbagetown, East Atlanta, Kirkwood, Oakhurst, Virginia-Highland, Inman Park or other Intown neighborhoods, there are several pediatric practices worth considering.
Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine
Locations: Glenwood Park, Brookhaven and Decatur
*A personal favorite
This one is personal.
My family has been going to Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine for more than seven years, and all three of my boys absolutely adore Dr. Fredly Bataille.
What I love most about Dr. B isn’t just that he’s a good pediatrician. It’s his demeanor. He’s calm, approachable and genuinely interested in the whole family.
He always asks about my other kids. He remembers things about them. He takes an interest in what is happening beyond the child sitting in front of him.
After seven years, he feels less like another medical provider and more like someone who has become part of our family’s story.
And I think that’s something you don’t necessarily understand when you’re choosing a pediatrician for a newborn. You’re not just choosing someone who will weigh your baby, check their ears and give vaccinations. If everything goes well, this is someone who may be part of your child’s life for years.
Dr. Bataille joined Intown Pediatrics in 2010 after completing his pediatric residency at Morehouse School of Medicine, where he trained at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta facilities. The practice describes his approach as approachable, communicative and focused on comprehensive care for the whole patient.
What I particularly appreciate about Intown
One of the things I’ve appreciated most over the years is that the pediatricians don’t seem to automatically tell you to come into the office for every little thing.
There have been plenty of times when we’ve received a call from the pediatrician with recommendations and reassurance without automatically being told that we needed to come in.
If something seems minor, they’ll sometimes suggest trying something simple at home first and tell you what to watch for.
As a parent, I really appreciate that.
Sometimes you don’t need another appointment. You just need someone knowledgeable to say, try this first, and here’s what to look out for.
That kind of judgment and trust is something I’ve come to really value.
A few things to know
There are a couple of practical things I wish I’d known earlier.
Sick appointments can require some planning. The practice’s appointment process can be different from offices where you can simply schedule a sick visit several days in advance. If your child wakes up sick, you may need to contact the office that day to find out what is available.
They also have a patient portal and online appointment options, including access through Healow. I didn’t know about the app for the longest time, so if you become a patient, learn how to use it early.
The Glenwood Park location also has Saturday hours, which can be particularly useful for families with young children.

Intown Pediatrics was also included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved Pediatricians, with Dr. Bataille and several other physicians from the practice recognized by Atlanta parents.
For me, this is one of those practices I can personally recommend because I’ve actually experienced it as a parent—not simply because I found it on a list of highly rated pediatricians.
After more than seven years, I can’t really imagine my boys growing up without Dr. B being part of their story.

Pediatricians in Decatur
Decatur is home to several pediatric options, which is especially convenient for families in Decatur, Oakhurst, Avondale Estates, North Decatur, Druid Hills and surrounding neighborhoods.
Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine – Decatur
If you live in Decatur, Intown’s Decatur location is an obvious one to consider.
The office is located at 200 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Suite 150, and is one of the practice’s three metro Atlanta locations.
For me, this is also the practice I’d recommend first because of our personal experience with Dr. Bataille and the care we’ve received there over the years.
Children’s Medical Group – Decatur
125 Clairemont Avenue, Suite 190, Decatur
Children’s Medical Group has been serving Atlanta-area children since 1947 and currently has offices in Atlanta, Buckhead, Decatur and Johns Creek. The Decatur location has a large team of pediatricians and nurse practitioners, including Dr. Ashley Bufe, Dr. Jennifer Shu and several other providers.
The practice offers prenatal consultations and tours for expecting parents, along with newborn care, well-child visits and sick visits.
One thing to know: Children’s Medical Group specifically asks parents to call rather than book online for babies under two months, so newborn appointments require a phone call.

Other Decatur-area options
Parents may also want to look into Kids & Teens Primary Healthcare, which is located on Lawrenceville Highway, and Decatur Pediatrics Group, which serves several communities around the eastern metro area.
Pediatricians in Buckhead & Brookhaven
For families in Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, North Druid Hills, Lindbergh, Morningside and nearby neighborhoods, there are several established pediatric practices.
Children’s Medical Group – Buckhead
Children’s Medical Group opened its new Buckhead location in April 2026, at 455 East Paces Ferry Road NE. The practice began seeing patients there in May.
This is particularly interesting if you like the idea of an established pediatric practice but want a convenient Buckhead location.
Children’s Medical Group also has an Atlanta location near Century Boulevard that serves neighborhoods including Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, North Druid Hills, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.
Focus Pediatrics
1200 Lake Hearn Drive NE, Suite 275
Focus Pediatrics is another option for families around Brookhaven and the Perimeter area.
One thing that makes it especially worth researching if you’re expecting is its prenatal meet-and-greet program, which allows parents to meet the pediatricians and ask questions before choosing the practice.
Dr. Pip Spandorfer of Focus Pediatrics was also included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved Pediatricians list.
hol+ Pediatric Care
For parents interested in a more holistic approach to pediatric care, hol+ Pediatric Care has locations in Brookhaven and Johns Creek.
Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved list includes Dr. Vandita Acharya and Dr. Taz Bhatia of hol+, describing the practice as combining traditional pediatric care with a broader focus on areas such as nutrition, gut health and environmental factors.
Pediatricians in Sandy Springs & Dunwoody
If you live in Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Perimeter, North Atlanta or nearby neighborhoods, you have quite a few pediatric options.
Northside Pediatrics
Locations: Sandy Springs and Woodstock
Northside Pediatrics is worth considering for families in Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Marietta, East Cobb, West Cobb, Kennesaw, Woodstock and surrounding northern suburbs.
One particularly useful feature for expecting parents is its in-person prenatal visits, held several times a month. You can meet the providers, tour the office and ask questions before your baby arrives.
A prenatal visit isn’t needed to become a patient.
Once your baby arrives, Northside says the newborn visit is generally scheduled one to two days after hospital discharge.
Sandy Springs Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine

Sandy Springs Pediatrics has been serving families in the Sandy Springs area for decades and cares for children from infancy through adolescence.
Dr. Sarah Aldridge and Dr. Estonna Wells-Jarrett were both included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved Pediatricians list.
The practice also offers Saturday hours, which can be a valuable consideration when you’re comparing pediatric offices.
Visit Sandy Springs Pediatrics
Dunwoody Pediatrics
Dunwoody and Alpharetta locations
Dunwoody Pediatrics is another practice to consider if you’re in Dunwoody or North Atlanta.
The practice emphasizes continuity of care from the newborn years through adolescence. Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved list recognizes several physicians from Dunwoody Pediatrics, including Dr. Gloria Ana Berenson, Dr. Terrence Gfroerer, Dr. Samuel Hughes and Dr. Kelly Wilburn.
Pediatricians in Alpharetta & Johns Creek
Families in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Cumming and North Fulton have a large number of pediatric practices to choose from.
Children’s Medical Group – Johns Creek

Children’s Medical Group’s Johns Creek location serves families throughout the Johns Creek area and has a large team of pediatricians and nurse practitioners.
The practice also offers Saturday sick appointments for established patients at its Johns Creek location, although parents are asked to call ahead rather than walk in.
Dunwoody Pediatrics
Although the name says Dunwoody, the practice also has an Alpharetta location, making it another option for North Fulton families. Several of its physicians were included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved list.
Pediatric Physicians
Pediatric Physicians has locations in Roswell and Alpharetta and is another practice worth comparing if you’re in North Fulton.
North Point Pediatrics
North Point Pediatrics is located in Alpharetta, and Dr. Greg Cabrera was included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved Pediatricians list.
Johns Creek Pediatrics
Johns Creek Pediatrics is another local option, located at 4395 Johns Creek Parkway, Suite 150, Suwanee.
Pediatricians in Marietta, East Cobb & Smyrna
If you live in Marietta, East Cobb, Smyrna, West Cobb or nearby communities, you don’t necessarily need to drive into Atlanta for pediatric care.
Northside Pediatrics – Woodstock
Northside Pediatrics’ Woodstock location serves a large portion of the northern suburbs, including Marietta, East and West Cobb, Kennesaw, Woodstock and surrounding communities.
Kennesaw Pediatrics
For families farther west, Kennesaw Pediatrics provides pediatric care from birth through adolescence and was included in Atlanta Parent’s 2026 Mom-Approved Pediatricians list.
Wellstar Pediatric Care
Wellstar has multiple pediatric services and practices throughout the Atlanta metro area, including options in Smyrna and surrounding Cobb County communities. Atlanta Parent also included Wellstar among its 2026 Mom-Approved pediatric resources.
How Early Should You Choose a Pediatrician?
You don’t need to have your pediatrician picked out the moment you see those two lines on the pregnancy test.
But I wouldn’t leave it until you’re already in the hospital.
I’d start researching sometime during pregnancy and find out:
Are they accepting newborns?
Do they offer prenatal visits?
When do they want to see the baby after birth?
How do sick appointments work?
What happens after hours?
A prenatal visit can be particularly helpful because you’re not just reading a website anymore. You’re getting a chance to meet the people who could potentially care for your baby for years.
And don’t be afraid to interview a pediatrician.
You’re allowed to ask questions.
Questions to Ask at a Prenatal Pediatrician Visit
If you’re meeting a pediatrician before your baby arrives, bring a list.
Ask exactly when the first appointment should happen after hospital discharge.
Find out whether you’ll have access to an on-call pediatrician, nurse advice line or another service.
This is one of those things that sounds unimportant until your baby wakes up with a fever.
Some families love having one doctor who knows their child. Others prefer having access to a larger team.
If you’re planning to breastfeed, ask whether the practice has lactation support or relationships with local lactation consultants.
Ask whether you can schedule through an app, patient portal, online system or whether you need to call.
What Matters Most in a Pediatrician in Atlanta?
After having three children, I think I’ve learned that the answer isn’t necessarily the fanciest office, the longest list of services or even the pediatrician with the most glowing online reviews.
It’s trust.
You want to feel comfortable calling when you’re not sure whether something is worth worrying about.
You want a doctor who will listen.
You want someone who knows your child.
And ideally, you want someone who will be around long enough to see your baby turn into a toddler, then a preschooler, then a school-aged kid.
That’s what I’ve found with Intown Pediatrics and Dr. Bataille.
After more than seven years, he doesn’t feel like just another provider we’ve seen along the way. He feels like someone who has been part of my boys’ growing-up story.
And that’s probably the best recommendation I can give.
